Skip Ewing Releases New Single “Wreck of My Heart”

Country artist and critically acclaimed songwriter Skip Ewing is showcasing a fiery new sound inspired by a terrifying accident that provided him newfound clarity about love on his brand new single “Wreck of My Heart.” The third release from his forthcoming Road To California album, “Wreck of My Heart” is available everywhere, now. Listen to the new track now

“Years ago I was in a head-on collision,” Skip shared about the backstory to the song with The Country Note. “The driver fell asleep and crossed the line with no warning. For months after I couldn’t drive without fearing someone would cross the line and hit us again. I became hyper-aware that the painted lines we saw were only illusions of separation. If someone disregarded or disrespected those lines it could again be devastating. Years later, as I thought back on this, I realized how metaphoric this was for love and heartbreak. If you’ve loved and wrecked, you’ll definitely understand the metaphor.

In 2023, Skip released the first single off of Road To California, “Knots,” which shined a light on themes of PTSD, suicide prevention and the respect-worthy aspiration to remain faithful to oneself. He also released the light-hearted song “Road Dog,” alongside an accompanying music video that featured hundreds of photos from fans across the globe. He capped off the year with a momentous occasion as it was revealed that reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson had recorded a ‘Lost’ demo, “I Would If I Could,” that Skip had co-written alongside Dean Dillon. The song was featured in Apple Music’s ‘Lost & Found’ project, which spotlights Nashville songwriters by showcasing some of the best country tracks that have never been released. Lainey shared her excitement to record the demo with People Country back in December, “When you listen to the first line of the song, it is classic… And it feels like a song that should already be a song. Two of the most incredible songwriters that have ever existed, I look up to them a whole lot.
