ERNEST and Lainey Wilson Team Up for Duet Version of “Would If I Could” Co-Written by Skip Ewing

Ahead of Skip Ewing’s Road To California album release on April 26th, the successful artist is celebrating the release of yet another version of his co-write with Dean Dillon, “Would If I Could,” on ERNEST’s brand new album NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE. Recorded as a duet with reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson, who previously released her version of the single with Apple Music’s Lost & Found project, the song continues to prove good songwriting stands the test of time.

“ERNEST and Lainey Wilson decided to team up on the '90s-style slow jam ‘Would If I Could’ after both stars put the song on hold in the same week. Featured on ERNEST's sophomore album NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, the 26-track magnum opus captures the essence of Music City itself, like only a firebrand can.” - Music Row

“With a melody that’s stood the test of time for almost 30 years, ERNEST and Lainey bring a fresh sound with their modern vocals, which shine as they sing about heartbreak and knowing when it’s time to let go of a relationship… even if you’d rather do anything else.” - Whiskey Riff

Featured in Apple Music’s ‘Lost & Found’ project, which included Skip’s ‘Lost’ demo and Lainey Wilson’s ‘Found’ version of the song released in December 2023, “I Would If I Could” has been a sought-after song. Sharing her excitement with People Country, Lainey said, “When you listen to the first line of the song, it is classic… And it feels like a song that should already be a song. Two of the most incredible songwriters that have ever existed, I look up to them a whole lot.
